April 25, 2007 Directors Dear Sir or Madam: Over 300,000 Chinese students and scholars are studying in the US. Over 30,000 new Chinese students come to US colleges every year. Jiangsu Province is one of the most economically developed and most populated provinces in China (Number 1 GDP in the country; a population of over 74,000,000; 850 high schools and 500,000 high school graduates each year). There is a great demand among Jiangsu’s high school graduates wishing to study in the United States. The Ministry of Education Jiangsu Province, the provincial government department in charge of the higher, secondary, elementary and vocational education of Jiangsu Province is announcing its goal to take an active role in providing a comprehensive program “Jiangsu Educational Outreach Programs – USA (including the 2007 US College Recommendation Consortium)” designed to educate the students, parents and counselors about the higher education opportunities in the United States and to provide the information about the US college searching and application process. The program begins with a group of selected colleges from the US. Our goal is to offer “2007 US College Recommendation Consortium” this summer between June 22-27, 2007 PROGRAM INTRODUCTION: The information of the participating colleges will be distributed to the attending students, parents and high school counselors. Introductions and presentations for the US Colleges will be made via DVD/slides/power point, seminar and other formats at the Consortium. Organized information of the US Colleges will be further distributed to the high schools in the province through various channels of schools, associations, and government education departments at the City and Counties level. Over one hundred of high schools will be involved in the Program and receive organized information of participating US colleges in the Consortium. These high schools are the top schools in both the Province and in the Nation. They send hundreds of their graduates to the best universities in China and other countries every year. Among them, there are:
We expect over 6,000 -- 10,000 students and parents to attend the programs, and expect over 100,000 students and parents to receive the information about your College through our Consortium programs, presentations, and other channels provided by us. Several conferences and panels will also be held for the US College representatives to meet with the local high schools principals, governmental education officials, representatives of students and parents to exchange information and explore the opportunities to send the best high school graduates from Jiangsu to study in the US colleges. US College Representatives visit Jiangsu, China:
